Kingwood celebrates Independence Day each year in a way that is unique, family-friendly, and tons of fun for people of all ages.
Different events are held throughout the area and there is bound to be one that fits your family’s needs. The 4th of July is Kingwood’s biggest celebration of the year, as various events are held by local organizations that aim to bring the community together for a of day laughter and festivities.
Kingwood 4th of July Parade
This is an annual event put on each year by the Kingwood Civic Club. The Kingwood 4th of July parade is one of the largest Independence Day parades in all of Texas! Local businesses, community groups, families, and school organizations enter floats, vehicles and trailers in the event for judging and parade through the streets of Kingwood for the enjoyment of the whole community. A children’s fishing rodeo is held before the parade from 6-7:30am at the Foster’s Mill pond, and a decorated bike rodeo for children is held at 9am in the parking lot of the Kingwood Bible Church. Bikes are awarded trophies by judges and participants are invited to walk in the parade after the bike rodeo. The parade itself begins at 10am at Sandy Forks Drive, making its way to West lake Houston Parkway where it turns onto Kingwood Drive and ends at Kingwood High School. Where your red, white, and blue, bring lawn chairs, and find your spot early, because this event gets crowded!
4th of July Festival at Town Center
The Town Center festival is an annual, family-friendly event held at Town Center Park. Food and merchandise vendors will line the streets of the park, and kid-friendly activities like inflatables and games will also be available. Mark Linabury will be hosting the event. The festival begins at 2pm, with live music on stage from 3-9pm. Then, at 9pm, get ready for the best fireworks show in town! Stake out a spot to watch the fireworks early, because this event gets very crowded – especially during the fireworks show.
Kings Harbor Concert & Fireworks Show
The Kings Harbor pavilion hosts an annual 4th of July evening concert and fireworks show. TC & the Cannonballs will entertain on the main stage from 7-9:30pm, and a spectacular fireworks show will follow over the Kings Harbor Pier. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged!
Alspaugh’s Ace Hardware Kingwood Street Dance
Alspaugh’s Ace Hardware on West Lake Houston Parkway hosts an annual “street dance” on the Saturday before Independence Day (June 30th, 2018) with free BBQ, hotdogs, ice cream, and live music. The food begins at 6pm and live music starts at 7. Lawn chairs are encouraged, but dancing is even better! This event is fun for the whole family and is truly a community affair. Alspaugh’s often recognizes a community organization each year to which all of the event’s proceeds are donated.
